Reverse description A legionary aquila (eagle standard) displayed facing, wings spread, set atop a staff decorated with pellets, flanked on either side by a signum (military standard) each adorned with three circular discs and a crossbar at the base. The Latin legend MACRIAN LIB LEG I is distributed around the field, with LEG I appearing in the lower exergual area beneath the standards. The composition reflects the military character of Macrianus's coinage, explicitly referencing his First Legion Macriana Liberatrix, and is executed in the rough, provincially inspired style characteristic of this usurper's emergency issue.
