| Obverse description | Bare head of Lucius Servius Sulpicius Rufus, bearded, facing right, rendered in the Republican portrait tradition. The hair is depicted with fine engraved striations swept back from the forehead in a naturalistic style. The circular legend surrounds the effigy, partially legible on this heavily worn specimen. The portrait occupies the central field with no drapery visible at the truncation. |
