| Obverse description | Bare head of Lucius Aelius Caesar facing right, with short, curly hair rendered in a naturalistic style typical of Hadrianic-era portraiture. The neck is truncated and the bust is lightly draped at the shoulder. The encircling legend reads L AELIVS CAESAR, distributed across the field from left to right. The portrait exhibits strong facial modeling with defined cheekbones and a short beard, consistent with known representations of Aelius on imperial coinage. The flan is slightly irregular, as characteristic of hand-struck silver issues of this period. |
