Reverse description Bare head of Octavian (the future Augustus Caesar) facing right, depicted in the veristic portrait tradition of late Republican coinage. The encircling legend is arranged within a border of dots, with the letters MP rendered as a ligature monogram in the standard issue. The portrait conveys the youthful features of Octavian consistent with his representation on coinage of the Second Triumvirate period circa 42 BC.
