Reverse description The consul Lucius Junius Brutus, legendary founder of the Roman Republic and ancestor of the moneyer, is depicted in the center as a walking figure escorted by two lictors bearing fasces over their shoulders, one to his left and one to his right; an accensus or attendant figure precedes the group at left. All figures are shown in draped Roman attire, advancing left within a dotted border. The moneyer's name BRVTVS appears in the exergue in bold Latin capitals, evoking the gens Junia's proud republican heritage and the virtue of libertas at a politically charged moment in the late Republic.
