| Obverse description | Bare diademed head of King Juba II facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with fine curled hair and a royal diadem encircling the head. The effigy is centered in the field, with the neck truncation visible at the lower portion of the flan. The Latin legend REX IVBA runs around the periphery, identifying the issuing monarch. The flan is irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production, and the surfaces show characteristic ancient wear. |
