Obverse description Bare head of Juba II facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic-influenced style with short curly hair and a short beard, the portrait exhibiting fine naturalistic modeling characteristic of Augustan-era provincial coinage. A small bunch of grapes or similar symbol appears in the left field behind the head. The Latin legend REX IVBA is disposed vertically in the right field, reading downward.
