Obverse description Diademed bare head of Juba II facing right, the royal diadem clearly rendered across the finely detailed hair. The portrait is executed in a Hellenistic-Roman style befitting a client king educated in Rome, with strong facial features and a slightly idealized profile. A dotted border encircles the field. The Latin legend REX IVBA is disposed around the effigy, reading downward on the right side of the flan.
