| Reverse description | A garlanded altar occupies the central field, surmounted by a rising serpent adorned with a crescent on its hood, a symbol closely associated with royal and religious iconography of the Mauretanian court. The regnal year notation R XL VIII is distributed across the upper and lower fields, divided by the altar, recording year 48 of Juba II's reign. The composition is compact and symmetrical, consistent with the Hellenistic-influenced die-cutting style of the Caesarea mint. |
