Reverse description A horse standing to the right, rendered in profile with naturalistic detail, its tail raised and musculature carefully articulated. Above the horse's back, in the upper right field, appears a cornucopia filled with fruits and foliage, a symbol of royal abundance and prosperity. A dotted exergual line separates the main design from the lower field, where the Latin legend R · XXXXII is inscribed, indicating the regnal year forty-two of Juba II's reign. The entire reverse design is enclosed within a border of raised beads. The horse motif is a traditional symbol of the Numidian and Mauretanian royal dynasties, evoking the celebrated horsemanship of North African peoples.
