Obverse description Bare diademed head of King Juba II facing right, rendered in a refined Hellenistic portrait style with curled hair and a ribbon diadem tied at the nape. The facial features are finely modeled, with a pronounced jaw and a slightly idealized profile consistent with royal Mauretanian coinage. The legend REX IVBA appears in the field to the right of the portrait in Latin characters. A border of beads frames the design.
