Obverse description Bare-headed and diademed effigy of King Juba II facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with curling hair elaborated at the crown. A caduceus or sceptre symbol appears in the left field behind the portrait. The Latin legend REX IVBA is disposed around the periphery to the right of the bust, reading downward in the field.

The Greek legend KΛEOΠATPA BACIΛI is arranged around the periphery, with KΛEOΠATPA running along the left and lower fields and BACIΛI to the right, the abbreviated title denoting her royal status as queen consort of Mauretania.
