| Obverse description | Bare head of Hercules facing right, clad in the Nemean lion skin, the scalp drawn over the crown of the head with the lion's mane framing the face in characteristic fashion. The muscular, bearded effigy is rendered in bold relief with strong classical modeling. No surrounding legend appears on this restoration issue obverse, the design being drawn from archaic Republican prototypes honoring the hero-deity. |
