| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with characteristic short curly hair and full beard rendered in finely engraved parallel strokes typical of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor's mature, slightly idealised likeness is presented with a draped and cuirassed shoulder visible at the bust truncation. The encircling legend is deeply struck in capital Latin lettering, partially distributed across the field around the portrait. The flan shows the characteristic irregular edge common to hammered silver issues of the period. |
