Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic beard and naturalistic portraiture typical of Hadrianic coinage. The effigy presents the emperor with a wreath of laurel leaves encircling his head, and drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The surrounding legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan in well-spaced Latin capitals. The die work reflects the refined engraving style of the Rome mint during the late Hadrianic period.

Reverse description The goddess Salus personified stands in full figure facing left, robed in a long draped chiton and himation, extending her right hand forward holding a patera over a lighted altar placed to her left in the field. In her left hand she holds an upright sceptre. The composition is balanced and serene, conveying the imperial concern for the health and well-being of the emperor and state. The reverse legend SALVS AVG is distributed in the field around the central type.
