| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing left, rendered with characteristic portraiture including a short curled beard and finely modeled hair with a wreath of laurel. The emperor's truncation is visible at the lower edge of the flan. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, disposed around the periphery of the field within a plain inner border, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The portrait exhibits the high artistic quality associated with the Rome Mint's dies of Hadrian's later reign, with naturalistic facial features conveying imperial authority. |
