The emperor is depicted bare-necked, the laurel wreath sitting firmly upon his head with individual leaves and berries finely struck. The surrounding field is flat and unadorned, framed by a beaded border. The obverse legend circles the effigy in Latin capitals, reading HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P.
