| Obverse lettering | HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P (Translation: Hadrianus Augustus, Consul Tertium, Pater Patriae. Hadrian, emperor (Augustus), consul for the third time, father of the nation.) |
| Reverse description | The personification of Providentia stands in full figure, facing left, draped in a long chiton and palla. She extends her right hand forward, pointing downward toward a globe resting on the ground at her feet — the classical attribute symbolizing the emperor's foresight over the entire world. Her left arm is raised, holding what appears to be a vertical sceptre or wand. The figure is rendered in flowing drapery with careful attention to the folds of the garment. The encircling Latin legend PROVIDENTIA AVG is disposed around the field, identifying the allegorical figure as the Providence of the Augustus. |
