| Obverse description | Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine curling strands, characteristic of the emperor's distinctive portraiture. The effigy displays strong, naturalistic facial features with a pronounced brow and aquiline nose, executed in high relief typical of early Hadrianic coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly delineated with individual leaves tied at the back. The encircling Latin legend runs from lower left around the periphery, partially visible on this irregular flan. The portrait style reflects the accomplished die-cutting of the Rome mint workshops during the early years of Hadrian's reign. |

| Reverse description | The personification of Roma seated left upon a throne or pile of arms, draped and helmeted, extending a small Victory in her right hand and holding an upright sceptre or spear in her left hand, with a large oval shield resting against the throne at her side. The figure is rendered in a composed, majestic posture, conveying the allegory of Rome's enduring martial power and imperial authority. The reverse field is plain, with the abbreviated Latin legend distributed across the upper periphery and right field. This reverse type is well attested for the early third consulship issues of Hadrian struck at the Rome mint. |
