Obverse lettering IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG
(Translation: Imperator Caesar Traianus Hadrianus Augustus. Supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar, Trajan Hadrian, emperor (Augustus).)
Reverse description Hadrian, togate and seated left on a raised tribunal platform, extends his right hand toward an attendant figure (tessera distributor) also seated to the left, in the act of distributing largesse to the Roman citizenry. A citizen mounts the steps before the platform to receive the gift, while in the background stands the personification of Liberalitas, depicted facing and holding a coin-counting abacus (tessera) and cornucopia. The scene commemorates the third imperial congiarium. The encircling Latin legend frames the composition.
