| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a liberalitas scene in which Hadrian is seated left on a raised tribunal platform, extending his right hand in a gesture of distribution toward a standing attendant at left who holds a tessera or abacus. A citizen ascends steps before the platform to receive the imperial bounty. Behind the scene, the personification of Liberalitas stands facing, holding a coin scoop (tessera) and cornucopia, symbolising the third recorded congiarium of Hadrian's reign. The reverse legend P M TR P COS III LIBERAL AVG III is disposed around the scene, recording Hadrian's tribunician power, his third consulship, and the third liberality. |
