Obverse description Laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, draped at the shoulder, with finely rendered curled hair and short beard characteristic of the emperor's mature portrait type. The effigy displays the confident, idealized physiognomy associated with Hadrian's later coinage from the Rome Mint. The encircling legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is rendered in high relief with crisp die engraving, reflecting the accomplished artistry of the Hadrianic period.
