| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate and bearded bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with finely rendered curly hair and a full beard characteristic of his later portraiture. The effigy is depicted with a draped and cuirassed truncation, executed in a naturalistic Hellenistic style. The encircling legend runs from lower left to lower right around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays strong, individualized facial features consistent with official imperial die-cutting of the Hadrianic period. The irregular flan edges are typical of hand-struck silver coinage of the Roman Imperial era. |
