| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, depicted with his characteristic short beard, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait style favored during his reign. The effigy shows fine detail in the curled hair beneath the laurel wreath and the folds of the paludamentum at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, disposed around the bust. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, characteristic of hand-struck Roman Imperial coinage of this period. |
