| Reverse description | The reverse field depicts two standing female figures facing one another in a scene of mutual exchange or greeting. The figure to the left, identified as Felicitas, the personification of happiness and good fortune, stands draped in a long stola and holds a caduceus in her right hand while extending her left hand toward the second figure. The figure to the right stands in a complementary draped pose and appears to hold a cornucopia or similar attribute, reinforcing the theme of imperial prosperity. The encircling legend FELICITAS AVG is distributed around the upper field, proclaiming the good fortune of the emperor. The composition is rendered in the restrained classical style characteristic of Hadrianic reverse types. |
