Reverse description The personification of Libertas, goddess of freedom and liberty, stands erect facing left, draped in a long stola and palla. In her extended right hand she holds a pileus (the felt cap symbolising the manumission of slaves), and in her left hand she carries a vindicta (the rod used in the ceremony of freeing slaves), resting vertically at her side. The figure is rendered in a classical contrapposto stance with fine drapery folds visible across the garment. The abbreviated consular legend is disposed in the field around the figure.
