Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with short curly hair and beard rendered in fine detail characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor's draped shoulder is visible at the bust truncation. The circumferential Latin legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The die work reflects the accomplished engraving style of the Rome mint during Hadrian's reign, presenting a naturalistic and individualized imperial effigy.
