Obverse description Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered with characteristic curly hair and full beard, the latter being a distinctive iconographic innovation of Hadrian's coinage. The effigy is boldly modeled in high relief, displaying the emperor's mature portrait with strong facial features. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the field.
