| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered with his characteristic short curly hair and close-cropped beard, the portrait exhibiting the naturalistic Hellenistic style favoured during his reign. The effigy is executed in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and drapery at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. A faint inner bead border frames the design. |
