Reverse description Standing figure of Virtus, the personification of Roman military virtue, depicted facing left in a near-frontal stance at centre of field. The figure is helmeted and clad in military attire, holding a parazonium or short sword in the right hand and a spear or hasta upright in the left hand. The legend VIRTVS is inscribed horizontally in the field to the right of the figure. The composition is rendered in moderate relief with a plain, unadorned field, typical of the hasty yet bold coinage produced during Galba's brief reign at the Rome mint.
