| Obverse description | Bare head of Galba facing right, rendered in bold high relief with strongly modelled facial features characteristic of late Julio-Claudian and early Flavian portraiture. The emperor is depicted as an elderly man with prominent jowls, a hooked nose, and a determined expression. The circular legend surrounds the bust, reading SER GALBA IMP CAESAR AVG P M TR P, distributed across the field from left to right. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, as typical of hammered silver coinage of the period. The die work is of competent Roman mint quality, with the portrait dominating the obverse field. |
