Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered in a realistic portrait style characteristic of Julio-Claudian and Flavian-era coinage. The emperor's features are individualized, with a strong jaw and cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is depicted with a draped shoulder visible at the bust truncation. The overall style reflects the skilled die-cutting of the Julio-Claudian tradition carried into the reigns of the Year of the Four Emperors.
