| Obverse description | Laureate head of Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic strong facial features and a short neck. A aegis or drapery appears at the truncation of the bust. The encircling legend reads IMP CAES DOMITIANVS AVG P M in raised Latin characters, distributed around the full circumference of the flan. The portrait is executed in the vigorous, naturalistic style typical of early Flavian imperial coinage. The field shows the slightly uneven surface characteristic of hand-struck silver issues of this period. |
