| Reverse description | Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war, depicted standing and advancing to the right in a martial pose. She is helmeted and clad in flowing robes, brandishing an upraised spear in her right hand while her left arm bears a large round shield. This type of Minerva was Domitian's personal divine patron and appears with particular frequency on his denarii, making it one of the most emblematic reverse designs of his reign. The encircling legend, interrupted by the figure, records Domitian's acclamations, consulship, and censorial and paternal titles in crisp Latin capitals. |
