Obverse description Laureate head of Domitian facing right, rendered in the characteristic Flavian portrait style with clearly defined facial features and a neat laurel wreath crown. The legend encircles the effigy along the outer border of the flan, reading from lower left in an arc. The portrait exhibits the youthful, idealized treatment typical of Domitian's coinage struck during his father Vespasian's reign, before his own accession. The flan is slightly irregular at the edges, as is common for hammered silver issues of this period.
