Reverse description Panoramic view of Mount Eryx in Sicily, upon whose summit stands the celebrated Temple of Venus Erycina, depicted in architectural detail. The mountain is encircled by a fortified wall with a prominent gate, above which the inscription ERVC appears in the field. The composition references the famous sanctuary of Venus at Eryx, whose cult held great significance for Roman identity and to which the obverse type of Venus directly alludes. The design is engraved with fine detail and enclosed within a border of dots.
