| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of the deified Claudius facing left, rendered in high relief with naturalistic portrait style typical of Julio-Claudian imperial coinage. The emperor is depicted with characteristic features including a broad neck and draped shoulders. The encircling legend reads DIVVS CLAVDIVS AVGVSTVS, identifying him posthumously as a divine figure. A beaded border frames the design. This posthumous issue was struck under Nero following Claudius's deification in AD 54. |
