| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Claudius facing right, with a draped shoulder visible at the truncation. The portrait displays the characteristic features of Claudius in a restrained, classicizing style typical of Julio-Claudian imperial coinage. The surrounding legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The flan is slightly irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck production at the Rome Mint during the reign of Claudius. |
