| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate effigy of Libertas facing right, rendered with flowing, elaborately engraved hair gathered beneath a laurel wreath and falling in long curling locks behind the neck. The portrait is executed in confident high relief characteristic of late Republican coinage, with finely modelled facial features. The legend C•CASSEI•IMP arcs around the left and upper field, identifying the imperator Gaius Cassius Longinus. The entire design is enclosed within a neat border of dots. |

| Reverse description | A crab depicted facing right dominates the reverse field, its claws firmly grasping an aplustre — the ornamental stern-piece of a warship — alluding to Cassius's naval power in the eastern Mediterranean. To the left of the crab appears a rose in bloom alongside an untied diadem, symbols associated with the island of Rhodes, over which Cassius had recently asserted control. The legend M•SERVILIVS LEG curves along the lower field, naming the issuing legate Marcus Servilius. The design is framed by a border of dots. |
