Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in fine Republican style with carefully engraved hair swept back and bound with a laurel wreath; a distinctive corkscrew curl falls behind the neck. The portrait is set within a beaded border, with the field largely plain. A small symbol or control mark appears to the left of the neck in the field. The workmanship is characteristic of the late Roman Republican moneyers' tradition, with sharp, confident die-cutting.
