Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic portraiture style with characteristic short, layered hair swept forward over the brow. The effigy is depicted with a clean-shaven face and a naturalistic profile, occupying the central field of the flan. The surrounding Latin legend is divided on either side of the portrait, reading CAESAR to the left and AVGVSTVS to the right. The coin is struck on an irregular, slightly oval flan typical of late 1st century BC Roman silver coinage.
