Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, wearing the corona civica (civic oak wreath), rendered in finely detailed high relief typical of Augustan imperial portraiture. The emperor's features are idealized yet individualized, with pronounced facial structure and carefully delineated hair beneath the wreath. The surrounding legend is divided on either side of the portrait, reading CAESAR to the left and AVGVSTVS to the right. The field is smooth and uncluttered, allowing the portrait to dominate the flan. The overall style reflects the accomplished craftsmanship of the Spanish mint workshops active during the Augustan reform period.
