Reverse description A circular clipeus votivus (votive shield) depicted in relief at the centre of the reverse, rendered as a convex boss within a raised circular border, occupying the majority of the field. The four letters of the legend S P Q R are disposed in the four quadrants surrounding the shield — S upper left, P upper right, R lower left, Q lower right — with the inscription CL V incused or implied on the shield face itself, referencing the golden shield (clipeus aureus) awarded to Augustus by the Senate. A dotted border runs along part of the flan edge.
