Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine portraiture style typical of the Augustan classicizing tradition. The effigy is depicted with idealized features, closely cropped hair, and a clean-shaven face. The surrounding circular legend reads S P Q R IMP CAESARI AVG COS XI TRI POT VI, distributed around the portrait within the field. The portrait is struck in high relief with good detail to the facial features, consistent with the refined artistic standards of the Roman mint under Augustus.
