| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine relief with naturalistic portraiture characteristic of Augustan classicism. The emperor's features are idealized yet individualized, with short, neatly arranged hair falling across the forehead in the canonical Augustan coiffure. No legend appears on the obverse, the field being entirely devoted to the imperial effigy. The flan is irregular, as typical of Roman hammered coinage of this period. |
