Obverse description Central field features the episcopal coat of arms of the Bishopric of Münster, displayed on a pointed shield divided per pale, with the left half plain and the right half diagonally hatched, rendered in a bold Gothic style characteristic of late 14th-century Westphalian coinage. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. A Gothic uncial legend surrounds the design reading POThONIS EPISCOPI, identifying the issuing bishop Potho of Pothenstein.
