Obverse description Macedonian round shield depicted in full face, its surface decorated with a border of raised pellets and stylized wave or thunderbolt ornaments around the rim. The central boss bears the royal monogram of Demetrius I Poliorcetes in raised relief, rendered in a bold, angular Greek ligature. The overall design is characteristic of the Hellenistic military iconography associated with Macedonian royal bronze coinage.
