Reverse description A richly detailed allegorical composition centered on a crowned funeral urn set upon a pedestal inscribed DE SANS-SOUCI, flanked on the left by an open book inscribed CODEX FRIDERICIANUS and symbols of the arts and sciences including a lyre and stacked volumes, and on the right by military trophies including cannons, cannonballs, and weapons. Above, a winged genius ascends amid rays of light and clouds. The legend RESTABAT ALIUD NIHIL curves across the field in two parts, and a three-line inscription recording the king's birth and death dates appears in the exergue.
