Obverse description High-relief bust of Carl Weigert in three-quarter view, bent forward and peering into a microscope held in his right hand, depicted in a laboratory coat with a full beard. The engraver's monogram 'JK' appears within a shield at the upper left of the field; the legend along the bottom reads 'CARL WEIGERT / GEB. 19. MAERZ 1845', and the date of death 'GEST. 5. AUG. 1904' runs vertically along the right border.
