De Zwartecross is a Dutch motocross and music festival held annually near Lichtenvoorde in the Achterhoek region. From at least 2010, the festival issued its own internal currency — printed paper notes used by attendees to purchase food, drink, and merchandise on-site, bypassing cash handling at individual vendors. This was a common enough system at large European festivals by the late 2000s, but the Zwartecross notes attract collector interest because the festival itself grew into one of the largest outdoor events in the Netherlands, regularly drawing several hundred thousand visitors over a single weekend.

Spent notes were essentially worthless after the event closed. Unspent examples that were never redeemed are the ones that survive.
